This article is the most amusing trashing of George Lucas I’ve read yet. Lucas fans read at your own risk.

So I’m easily amused and somehow found this site of “engrish” usage in Japan. I feel certain that many japanese folks are equally amused by our (poor) usage of kanji, etc..
Well, it’s finally almost here. Jon and I are going on vacation with his family (all 14 of us!) to Nags Head in the Outer Banks, N.C.. Fortunately for our sanity, since 4 of those 14 are children below the age of 5 (boys all, oi), Jon and I will have our own “townhouse” for a week. We’re going to be right next to Jockey’s Ridge, the tallest natural sand dune system in the Eastern United States
. In fact, we can see it easily from Google’s nifty satellite map system. That little grouping of roads and buildings to the west/southwest of the dune is the “community” where we’ll be staying.
I don’t think we have any real plans as of yet, though Jon and I will likely spend a fair amount of time on the dune. I really want to get a neat kite (there are all kinds of cool kite shops down there) and fly it on the dune. Jon says he wants to go hang-gliding from the top, but I’m not sure about that one. Jon’s step-father is going to teach us how to sail in his little sailboat (it fits about 2 people), so that should be fun. Other than that, no plans. I’m sure we’ll spend some time with the family, but hopefully we’ll have some time to just do our own thing too. I think that’s why we like the dune so much. It’s so big that the whole family could be out on it and not see anyone else.
We’re going to be gone for a full week - we’re leaving tomorrow (Saturday) and coming back the following Saturday, just in time to have another day off from work for the 4th of the July. God bless America~ Anyway, we won’t have internet down there, so the blog will be a very boring place. Hopefully I’ll remember to take my camera with me and get some pictures so you all can see what we’ve been up to. I just know you’re ecstatic, but please.. try to contain yourselves til we get back.
TOOOL
Yes, there’s an organization of lockpickers. How cool is that?
Desert Island Fonts - Round 1
Just an interesting look at what people think are the most “important” fonts.. Iono, I was interested, anyway..
I recently ran into some trouble with a nifty little plugin for Wordpress called RunPHP
What cruinh and I have discovered is that the code only actually evaluates within the post if there is something preceding it in the post, even a single white-space. For example:
<phpcode>echo "blarg";</phpcode> displays:
echo “blarg”;
However, <h2><phpcode>echo "blarg";</phpcode></h2> displays:
Additionally, test text <phpcode>echo "blarg";</phpcode> displays:
test text blarg
Interesting little bug.. hopefully the plugin author is still around to fix the problem.
First solar sail prepares for space launch | CNET News.com
Hey look, solar sails.. just like in Treasure Planet. Cool~ (I love that movie, by the way.. go rent it, if you haven’t seen it.)
This movie is weird. But very thought-provoking. Highly recommended~
Looks like we may be switching over to Horde, despite all the time spent on Alliance. Jon had previously dragged his feet about it, because he liked Diantha a lot, but for some reason, now he’s changed his mind. I’m happy, I think, because it means I’ll finally get to play my long-abandoned troll shaman, who was the character I played in open beta and made the first time I logged into the game upon release. I kind of hate to stop playing Jori though, because she’s been so much fun..
I’m hoping that all of our friends won’t be mad at us for the switch. I know a few are already making Horde characters (or already had them), but most of the guild flat-out rejected the idea of switching a few months ago. Things have changed a bit since then, so it’s possible some of them have changed their minds, but I guess we’ll have to see. We’d like to get another guild going on Horde side, if we can.
It’s kind of funny.. I made an orc hunter to play with while Jon was catching Idranien up to Jori, but somehow that ended up making him want to play Horde too. Part of the reason I’d like the switch to stick is because the Alliance areas are so crowded any more. Granted, at higher levels Horde and Alliance share hunting grounds, so it may not matter, but things already feel less hectic.
It’s been a lot of fun to see things from the other side. I’ve got new quests to do, I get to see all kinds of new items that are quest rewards that aren’t available to Alliance, and I get to see all these really badass looking Horde characters. It’s really amazing how formidable a Tauren or Orc in full platemail can look, and the Horde priest PVP armor is just wicked, all black with spikes and stuff. I haven’t seen any shaman yet that really stood out to me, aside from the NPC ambassador from the Frostmanes, but I’m sure that’ll change.
Hopefully our friends will understand (especially Mom)..
