Wii Zelda?
This Wii trailer from E3 seems to indicate that Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be released for the Wii (the Zelda spot is about 3/4 of the way through the video, but some of the other games are pretty interesting to watch too). I’m a little disappointed, because Nintendo had been saying that TP would be coming out for the GameCube, which I already own.
However..if this new controller of Nintendo’s works the way that it seems to from the video, the Wii may be worth getting in its own right. Looks like a whole new brand of fun, which is exactly what the gaming industry needs right now. Hopefully it doesn’t turn out to be just a lot of hype - seems like the controller could be pretty difficult to learn how to use in some cases, and if it isn’t buggy as hell, I’ll be shocked. Still, it’s worth looking forward to. At least the Wii is going to be the least expensive of the new consoles.
There are some better shots of the controller action in this video, but again, these people are probably actors in a studio, not people actually playing with the controller.

At first I agreed with you… it very much seemed like Twilight Princess was moving to the *cough* Wii. But then there’s this entry at EB still, and the mention on Penny Arcade that they were told all the Wii demos were actually running off Gamecubes somehow. So I’m starting to think we’ll still see the new Zelda on our Gamecubes.

Yeah but.. why would they configure the game to work with the wiimote (*cry*) if the game was going to be playable on the GC? Plus..why release it at this point for the GC when the Wii is less than a year away, and Twilight Princess probably isn’t finished yet anyway. I dunno, I’m skeptical. I mean, a Zelda game would be a HUGE hook for the new console. Plus the release date on that EB games page was 11/1/06, which rings awfully close to when the Wii is supposed to be coming out.. it seems too big a coincidence to me.
I guess it doesn’t really matter, since I’ll mostly likely be picking up a Wii (oh god WHY did they pick this name? is it just me or did that last sentence sound vaguely obscene?) anyway. Still, kind of a shame that we might have to buy one just to play the Zelda game we’ve been slavering over for years now.

Then again, there’s also an entry for the Wii Zelda, so maybe it’ll come out for both. Wouldn’t that be cool.
Or maybe EB games hasn’t updated their database. Who knows. -.-
