New wheels
After owning my little Saturn SC1 for nearly 10 years, I (Jon and I, really) finally took the big step and bought a new car. We’d been kind of looking off and on for a while, but, thanks to my parents’ morale support, we actually went out on Saturday and bought a Scion tC.
This isn’t actually a photo of my car, because I can’t find my camera (I think it’s been packed away), but this is basically what it looks like:

Naturally this is all pretty exciting. Fortunately for us, we were able to get a decent loan rate too, so our payments won’t be too bad. This was our first major purchase, but everything went well. Having my parents along really helped, because I was a little nervous about the whole thing. Cars are a lot of money, and the loan process is a little intimidating.
The car is a blast to drive, and it has a sweet little radio in it (that plays mp3 CDs, woot). Ultimately, the car isn’t the most practical (2 doors, not the best gas mileage, etc), but at least it isn’t an SUV. Plus, I think it’ll still get better gas mileage than my Saturn, which really wasn’t in very good shape anymore. I didn’t get the dark blue color that I had really wanted, but the light blue that we did get is very pretty anyway. I think I might actually like it better than the darker blue, even.
Anyway, Scions are made by Toyota, so I’m hoping it’ll be a decent car. Here’s hoping it lasts us many years.

Thanks! It’s a lot of fun to drive, especially now that it’s fully legit (have city sticker, registration, etc.). I’ve been driving everywhere in the past year wondering if this drive was going to be the one where my car broke down, so having a new car is definitely a good thing. Driving in general is more fun, which, in this age of crazy high gas prices, may not actually be a good thing. Ah well, you can’t win em all.

Congrats on the new car. Hopefully the gas mileage is decent, unlike my car (I still have the convertible). Phang turned in his mustang for a civic hybrid a couple of months back.
Haven’t seen you guys in awhile, we should think about a get together with Phang and whatnot.
